NÜRBURG - Het Formule BMW Deutschland kampioenschap reed mee in het voor programma van de Formule 1 op het Grand Prix circuit de Nürburgring. Het werd het weekend van Daniel Campos-Hull. De zeventienjarige coureur wist beide races te winnen voor het oog van de Formule 1-teambazen. Het Eifelland-Racing Team had de bolides goed geprepareerd, want ook de teambenoot van Campos-Hull zat er goed bij met twee maal een tweede plaats. Tijdens de eerste race was het Maximilian Wissel die als derde over de finish kwam, terwijl Adrien Tambay in race twee het podium mocht beklimmen.
Luuk Glansdorp bleek de beste Nederlander in de eerste race met een tiende positie, terwijl Mathijs Harkema in race twee een achtste positie op eiste.
De volgende race in het Duitse Formule BMW kampioenschap wordt verreden in het weekend van 27 tot en met 29 juli tijdens het DTM-weekend op Circuit Park Zandvoort.
